Academies can be part of the change and help fill the global skills shortage to build the technology workforce of tomorrow. Upskilling students is easy, low in cost and only takes 6-hours through this Learn-A-Thon competition.

Length of Learn-A-Thon

Participate in the Learn-A-Thon from February 12th until February 26th, 2024


6-hour self-paced intro course

Take students inside the world of data science to explore the basics of data science, data analytics, and data engineering to understand how machine learning is shaping the future of business, healthcare, education, and more. Multiple activities and quizzes engage students and reinforce learning.

Incentives for students to join the Learn-A-Thon


Students who participate in the Learn-A-Thon and pass the Introduction to Data Science course exam with a 70% or above on any attempt will be awarded an Introduction to Data Science digital badge.

Students that participate in the Learn-A-Thon will receive a Cisco Learn-A-Thon experience digital badge.

A Cisco digital badge is an emblem distinguishing an achievement that can be shared and validated digitally on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Xing, resumes, college applications, email signatures, via Email, shared link; embed code into web page or blog.

After the Learn-A-Thon, we encourage students to continue on their Data Analyst, Scientist and Engineering journey by taking Data Analytics Essentials as a next step.

How Academies Join the Learn-A-Thon

Host a 2-week class for your Cisco Academy.
Create a self-paced Introduction to Data Science course page on the platform. Instructor will need to use the following naming convention when setting up the course: #Learnathon2024_#USCDataScience
Register your class on the Learn-A-Thon website to participate; At registration, you must provide the correct course name and class ID.
The class ID is the self-enroll link or course URL link from the Invite Learners tab once the course has been created. We will use the course name and class ID to track your student participants.
Qualifying student participants are students that launch, interact, and complete course activities.
Enroll students and/or share the link to the self-paced Introduction to Data Science course on Please encourage students to complete the course and earn the Introduction to Data Science digital badge.
All students who complete and pass the Introduction to Data Science or Introduction to Cybersecurity Course with a 70% or higher will earn a digital badge to share on social media platforms.
Have the most students participate in the Introduction to Data Science course and you’ll be in the running to win some great prizes.
