International Girls in ICT Day
The 2020 Global Gender Gap Report from the World Economic Forum (WEF) revealed it will take 135.6 years to close the gap worldwide.
Cisco is celebrating International Girls in ICT Day on 27 April 2023 with a global Learn-A-Thon, to motivate girls and women to consider science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) education and careers.
You can speed up gender parity by taking part in the Learn-A-Thon. But be quick, the Learn-A-Thon is capped at 500 instructors.
To officially join the competition, instructors will need to read the terms and conditions, watch this short video on how to get started and create the course on skillsforall.com.

The Girls in ICT Learn-A-Thon

Participate in our 2-week Learn-A-Thon from 24th April until 5th May 2023.

6-hour self-paced intro course
Offer Introduction to Data Science (English, Spanish)
This introductory course takes students inside the world of data science. They will learn the basics of data science, data analytics, and data engineering to understand how machine learning is shaping the future of business, healthcare, education, and more. Data science professionals who can provide actionable insights for data-driven decisions are in high demand all over the world. Students earn a course badge that verifies their introductory knowledge.
6-hour self-paced intro course
Offer Introduction to Cybersecurity (English, Español, Français, Português, українська, Deutsch)
This introductory course takes you inside the world of cybersecurity. You will learn cybersecurity basics to protect your personal digital life and gain insights into the biggest security challenges companies, governments, and educational institutions face today. Cybersecurity professionals who can protect and defend an organization’s network are in high demand. Students earn a course badge that verifies their introductory knowledge.

The cost to join the Learn-A-Thon is free but by taking part, you will be equipping women (and men) with new-age skills to bridge the skills gap and grow a global workforce with in-demand skills.

Two of the top ten in-demand skills of 2023 are Data Science and Cybersecurity! Take part in the Learn-A-Thon and be seen as a leader in education and graduate employability!
Incentives for students to join the Learn-A-Thon
Students who participate in the Learn-A-Thon and pass the Introduction to Data Science or Introduction to Cybersecurity course exam with a 70% or above on the first attempt will be awarded a Cisco Intro to Data Science or a Intro to Cybersecurity digital badge. Students that participate in the Learn-A-Thon will receive a Cisco Learn-A-Thon experience digital badge.

How to join the Girls in ICT Day Learn-A-Thon
A learn-A-Thon is a 2-week virtual competition for instructors, academies and ASC’s to encourage females to complete the Introduction to Data Science and Introduction to Cybersecurity courses (both courses are 6 hours each). These courses are offered by creating a self-enroll course on SkillsForAll. You are welcome to invite students, staff, family members and friends to participate in the Learn-A-Thon. Participating academies will help prepare students for a successful and lucrative career by providing students with the valuable skills that companies continually seek and help build the workforce of tomorrow.
